Ingredients:
1/2 Recipe
1/2 lb.
butter, softened
1/4 lb. butter softened 6 eggs
3 eggs 1 1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup + 2 tbl. + 2 tsp. sugar 1 Tbl. vanilla
extract
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 Tbl. almond extract
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1 Tbl. anise extract
1 1/2 tsp. anise extract 1/2 cup anisette liquor
1/4 cup anisette liquor 6-7 cups flour
3 1/2 cups flour 3 heaping tsp. baking
powder
1 1/2 heaping tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. salt 1 egg - beaten
1 egg - beaten
Instructions:
In large bowl, beat
butter, sugar, eggs, all 3 extracts, baking powder and salt. Add
6 (3 if 1/2 recipe) cups of flour 1 at a time gradually, alternating with anisette liquor. Turn onto floured board and knead well.
Add flour until dough loses stickiness. Form
into 6 or 7 (3 or 4 if 1/2 recipe) flattened loaves. Brush tops with beaten egg. Bake on un-greased cookie sheets for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. While
hot, slice diagonally, turn pieces on side and bake another 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
